Sara is a first year PhD candidate in our group working on hard-to-treat paediatric brain cancer.

Sara’s research focuses on developing formulations for convection-enhanced delivery of therapeutics in Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This aggressive form of paediatric brain cancer is currently not treatable with pharmacological therapies because of its location. Sara's PhD is hoping to enable delivery of drugs using direct infusion into the tumour using implantable catheters. She is working under the supervision of Dr David Shorthouse, Dr Karolina Dziemidowicz and Dr Chris Morris.

Sara's PhD is funded by the EPSRC & SFI funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Transformative Pharmaceutical Technologies at University College London. Sara obtained a First Class Honours Master of Pharmacy degree from University College London in 2021. Following this, she completed her pre-registration training year and joined the General Pharmaceutical Council’s register as a pharmacist in 2022. Outside of the lab, Sara enjoys travelling, taekwondo, and watching Arsenal!
