About Karolina

Ever since I remember I've been interested in learning how medicines work. How a milligram of a powder can change the way you think, or feel.

This inspired me to study Pharmacy at King's College London and apply for industrial placements during my degree. Upon graduating in 2015, I moved to Manchester to complete my pharmacist foundation training at AstraZeneca and University Hospital South Manchester. I returned to London in 2016 to start PhD at the CDT in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines at UCL School of Pharmacy.

After completing my PhD on antibody-functionalised biomaterials for cancer immunotherapy, I joined Centre for Nerve Engineering for a one year postdoc, where I worked on the development of implants for peripheral nerve injury. I was then awarded an EPSRC Doctoral Prize fellowship for a project on implants for spinal cord injury.

I started my lectureship in Pharmaceutics at UCL School of Pharmacy in December 2022. I am passionate about mentoring students, seeing them flourish in a supportive and creative academic environment and facilitating their progress.
